Solar Screens

Are you tired of high energy bills and rooms that are too hot in the summer even when you’re running the air conditioner? Custom-fabricated solar window screens are the answer!

Solar screens replace your ordinary window screens with an attractive solar fabric that blocks most of the sun’s heat, reducing your cooling costs during our scorching Texas summers.

Solar window screens reduce temperatures 10 to 15 degrees, but they still offer great visibility so you can enjoy the view through your windows.

What are the Benefits of Solar Screens?

The investment in solar screens will help you save money on your energy costs. According to major power companies throughout Texas, electricity costs for air conditioning are reduced 25-30% by installing solar screens on the east, south, and west sides of your house.

Your air conditioner won’t have to work so hard, saving wear and tear on one of the most expensive systems in your home.

Rooms that are uncomfortably warm will become pleasantly cool—you’ll be able to enjoy your whole house year round.

Solar screens reduce UV rays, helping to protect your furniture, art, and carpets.

How do Solar Screens Work?

Solar screens reflect or absorb most of the sun’s heat and glare, keeping it from reaching your windows. If the heat never reaches the windows, it can’t be conducted into your house through the glass panes. As a result, your rooms stay cooler naturally, requiring less energy to maintain a comfortable temperature.

How Do I Measure My Windows for an Accurate Price Quote?

The easiest way to measure for new screens is to measure your old ones. If the screens are missing, you can measure the openings where the screens fit. Follow these tips for accurate measurements:

  • Use a metal measuring tape.
  • Record the width and height of each screen to the nearest 1/16 inch.
  • When measuring old screens, measure at the corners rather than the middle of the screen.
  • When measuring an opening (without old screens), measure from the inside of the deepest channel to the outside lip of the opposite channel.

All Phifer fabrics carry a 10-year warranty against manufacturer defects. The framing and workmanship are covered by a 5-year warranty. The fabric is resistant to pet damage, mildew, and fading; it needs only an occasional cleaning with mild soap and water to provide years of service.
